Last night’s presentation at the Wean Building was a smash — there were nearly 100 people there. Whatever the number, it filled all the seats and will cost me a dinner with Trumbull 100 President Diane Sauer and TNP’s Matt Martin, as I didn’t think we could fill that big room. But we did, and we got very nice reviews this morning in both the Tribune (front page) and the Vidicator.
Last night, for the first time, we revealed details on the Garden District plans that go beyond the wildflower plantings. We will do a series of short posts here over the next week or so that highlight those features. Matt also explained the pilot program that will start in the Historic Perkins Neighborhood, and continue into the Garden District as the money becomes available.
Diane and T-100 Vice President Mike Kariotis hosted and MC’ed the evening which closed with a short speech by Mayor Doug Franklin in which he endorsed the plans and promised the full support of the city.
The photo above is the “torii on Vine” which just might be the unofficial symbol of the Garden District.
