Idea Day

Well even though the holiday season does not officially end until Super Bowl Sunday, I’m going to go back to “work” today, beginning with this post. This afternoon I’ll attend a meeting of the City Council Strategic Planning Committee Chaired by Councilman John Brown at which representatives of the Residents Advisory Committee will advocate for the process put forth in the document entitled “Recommended Economic Development Projects for the City of Warren,” which was sent to Council and the Mayor last November. We are anticipating a good turn-out of Councilpeople and Mayor Franklin is planning to attend.

You can read more about the concept behind the ideas, especially the process for accountability, and download a copy of the cover memo and the report by clicking here.

This morning’s Tribune has a good piece about the meeting which you read here.

The meeting will start at 3:30, will be held in the Council Caucus room and is open to the public. The regular monthly meeting of the RAC will start at 4:30 in the same room.

So, back to work today, but I’m not taking down my Christmas decorations until after the Super Bowl.

“The importance of having clearly stated public goals and a mechanism for measuring progress cannot be overstated.” Yep. Hanging on the wall behind my desk is a quote from Winston Churchill: “However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.”

    • I agree but this is a necessary first step. No one can volunteer to help with a project they don’t know exists, and it’s hard to make progress unless people know who is coordinating the idea.
