Dave Grohl and Rocktoberfest

Share

There was a time when the Harding game was the only game in town on an autumn Friday night, but that is no longer the case. It will be the game for me, but on any other date I’d be downtown celebrating the new and improved Dave Grohl Alley tonight. The event starts at 5:00 either on the top floor, or or a lower floor (depends on the weather) of the muni parking deck just behind Dave Grohl Alley, which is behind the Courthouse Square block of West Market. There will be several bands and lots of other fun features. Admission is free but this is a fundraiser to enable the organizers to erect the world’s largest drumsticks in the Alley. There will be food, beer and wine for sale and the hippest crowd in town. I wish I could be there.

And then on Saturday we get Rocktoberfest at the Amp — an encore of the summer concert series organized by Sunrise Entertainment. They are bringing back three of their most popular tribute acts — Tom Petty, Bob Seger and the Eagles — who will play in that order. The gates open at 3:30. Admission is $7. This is a great entertainment bargain and you can watch Ohio State and still get there for the opening act.
