Here is an interesting way to spend six minutes: watch a video made by Candy Chang, a New Orleans-based artist who had a very creative idea for a way to get value from an abandoned building.

I spend a lot of time thinking about how to use abandoned buildings and vacant lots but I wouldn’t have thought of this in a hundred years. Artists just think differently. Her idea has been replicated in a number of cities and there is a web site where one can purchase a template very inexpensively: beforeidie.cc.
