No action last night

No, this is not a story about my personal life; the title refers to the fact that there was no action on the proposed bond issue or the “One-stop” building at the City Council meeting last night.

As is normal, the most interesting part of Council meetings are the casual conversations before, after, or between the Caucus and the actual meeting. It was during the latter period I found myself chatting with 7th Ward Councilman Eddie Colbert who told me about his idea to use the 3 new policemen about to be brought into the Warren Police Department to reform the department’s narcotics squad, which Colbert feels would have a greater anti-crime impact than simply adding one more cop per shift.

These shooting are real, they happen in every neighborhood in the city, and they are almost always related in some way to drugs,” Colbert said.

The Tribune has an article this morning which goes into more depth regarding Eddie’s suggestions.

The Councilman probably has the best Facebook page of any local elected official where you can follow and participate in the discussion on this and other local topics.
